Nello Paolucci felt the need to set the pendulum clocks of the Brera Astronomical Observatory in motion. To do so, he consulted Valentino Prina, a young watchmaker who seemed to be unparalleled when it came to pendulum clocks. The Alberti Clock, dating back to 1819, with the pendulum at the top and the dial at the bottom, soon became operational, thanks to Paolucci's desire to see these machines in action and Prina's determination to make it happen.
