Founded in 1858 in Le Locle, Switzerland, Vulcain is a historic watchmaking Maison known for technical innovation and for introducing the first truly functional mechanical alarm wristwatch. This patent, called the Cricket, made Vulcain famous worldwide and particularly popular among heads of state and American Presidents.

The “President’s Watch”

The Vulcain Cricket, launched in 1947, became famous as “The Watch for Presidents” because it was worn (and often gifted) to US Presidents such as Truman, Eisenhower, Johnson, and Nixon. It was chosen for its:
