The Longines Chronograph ref. 5966 belongs to one of the most important periods in the chronograph history of the Saint-Imier manufacture. By the 1950s, Longines had already established an outstanding reputation for its in-house chronograph movements, and the caliber 30CH represents one of the most significant chapters in this remarkable tradition.
Successor to the legendary caliber 13ZN, the 30CH is a manual-winding chronograph movement featuring a column wheel and flyback function, and is particularly admired by vintage watch collectors for its sophisticated architecture and exceptional construction. In this example, the movement is housed inside an impressive 38 mm case crafted from 18 kt rose gold, a remarkably generous size for a wristwatch produced during the 1950s.
Completing the watch is a beautiful original dial that has developed a captivating natural patina over the decades, giving this particular example a distinctive character that cannot be replicated. Preserved in excellent condition and paired with a brown crocodile leather strap, this Longines ref. 5966 is a superb testament to the golden age of the Swiss manufacture's chronograph production.
