Rolex 6076 Serpico y Laino: An Exceptionally Rare Reference

The Rolex ref. 6076 is one of the most unusual and seldom-seen Bubbleback references from Rolex's early post-war production. Dating from 1950, it immediately stands out for its distinctive stainless steel and gold case with concealed lugs, an unusual design solution that visually integrates the bracelet into the case and gives the watch a remarkably distinctive appearance.

Making this example even more fascinating is its beautiful original dial signed for Serpico y Laino, the historic Caracas retailer whose name is closely associated with some of the most desirable Rolex watches supplied to the South American market. This connection is further reinforced by the "S&L" engraving on the caseback.

The remarkable rarity of reference 6076 is also documented in historical auction literature. An example offered at an important international auction in 1989 was described as belonging to a production of only 60 pieces made in 1950 for Serpico y Laino. This historical reference provides a fascinating indication of just how uncommon this particular model is.

Powered by the automatic Rolex caliber 9 3/4 and fitted with an attractive unsigned vintage bracelet, this example is preserved in good condition and represents a rare witness to one of the lesser-known and most intriguing chapters of Rolex production during the 1950s.
